It holds the title of the largest freshwater fish in North America, and this is one of the only places it can be found. It is a bottom feeder, but if you are lucky enough to catch one, then you will soon find out that is does not fight like one. On the fishing trip, you will be accompanied by an instructor that has more than twenty years experience in fishing for sturgeon in these waters.
White Sturgeon Fishing In British Columbia
You can take part on this trip no matter how much of an experienced you are when it comes to sturgeon fishing in British Columbia. It also does not matter whether your preference is usually fly fishing or angling. You will be provided with all the equipment and instruction that you need. These trips can be taken all year round as the white sturgeon can be found in the river during all seasons. However, they are most prevalent between March and November, so it is recommended that you book your trip between these months. The size of the sturgeon that are usually caught on these trips can vary enormously but average you can expect to catch a fish that is at least 4ft in length. If you are lucky enough to catch a huge fish, then this could measure anywhere between 6ft and 8ft. There can also be a significant variance in the amount of fish that are caught on each trip. There are times when the catch is in single figures and others when twenty or more fish can be caught. All fish are released back into the river as soon as they have been caught and measured. There will also be opportunities for you to have your photo taken with the fish that you catch.
